Francesco Fieni dipinge nel suo studio

Francesco Fieni was born in Bari on June 9, 1978.

A dedicated and eclectic draftsman from an early age, he learned the basics of drawing and his first painting techniques in tempera and oil from his father, Giuseppe Fieni, a landscape painter. From a young age, he was rarely seen without paper and pencil in hand. During middle school, he distinguished himself by winning a national art competition organized by RAI. However, he was directed towards classical studies rather than an art high school. After the first two years of classical studies, he moved to Tuscany due to family decisions, specifically to Pistoia, where he continued high school and became a naturalized Tuscan, settling in Valdinievole, where he still lives and works.

After completing his humanities studies, he decided to enroll in the law faculty in Florence, though without completing it. Deeply attached to poetic composition, he wrote numerous poems, still unpublished. A multifaceted personality, fascinated by new technologies, he devoted himself to blogging in the early 2000s, successfully running two blogs.

Encouraged by his family, he accepted a job at Poste Italiane and in a few years became one of the company’s youngest financial consultants, achieving significant profits and recognition. Although his passion for art seemed dormant, an encounter with a client, an art professor, and a subsequent invitation to the exhibition of Lando Landini, a Pistoian artist, rekindled his return to his roots. The essential and hermetic style of Landini’s drawings, with their raw, no-frills stroke, sparked a renewed interest in art within him.

A tumultuous period in his life began, during which he vigorously resumed drawing and devoted countless hours to oil painting. He attended the art school “Bottega Dell’Arcimboldo” in Florence for a few months, under the guidance of master Domenico Mileto. His interaction with young contemporary painters and the art-rich environment of Florence served as a major source of inspiration.

The postal environment did not value his artistic talents, so he decided to change careers. He became self-employed, first as a sales agent, then as a web designer and social media manager, specializing in e-commerce. However, the thought of dedicating his life entirely to art remained constant. Creating commissioned portraits was no longer enough to quench his desire to fully immerse himself in painting. For him, art is catharsis and inner balance, a journey of inner research and speculation.

The decision to “leave everything” and dedicate himself to the life of an artist became inevitable.

“Now I am in deep harmony with myself, my inner being, and the present, moving toward a less nebulous future. Now I dedicate myself to what I was born to do: not just painting, but every creative aspect of existence.”
